StormBagsThe StormBag is a new tool that can be used to control and contain water and protect property from any emergency or excess water situation. When implemented, it immediately begins to absorb any water and turn it into a barrier against itself. The StormBag is a high-tech flood protection bag that can be used against emergency or excess water, both indoors and outdoors.
The StormBag is a heavy-duty 18 oz. burlap bag filled with a small amount of crystallized polymer. Each burlap bag is also lined with an enclosed second layer bag, made of linen for extra durability. Dry, it weighs just 16 ozs. The polymer can absorb 300 times its weight in water. In 3-5 mins. submersed, it absorbs approximately 4 gallons of water and weighs in excess of 30+ lbs. In effect, it becomes a sand bag. So, the StormBag can deal with any emergency water situation by immediately starting to absorb the water and turn it into a barrier against itself.
A box of 50 bags, unemployed/stored has a footprint of 13"H x 15"W x 25"L and weighs only 58 lbs, so it easily stores on-site. It would require 1500 lbs of sand to provide the same protection as a single box of StormBags. The StormBag is Homeland Security registered and on their "approved" list.
The StormBags can be used to protect buildings and facilities in any emergency or excess water situation such as broken pipes, toilet overflows, roof leaks, sprinkler head malfunction, HVAC consensor build-up, drainage problems and ground water flooding.
